The constitution of Bichitra Inc., amended on April 17, 1983, stipulates that there should be a five-member board of trustees for the organization.
"Board of Trustees - Bichitra will have a five (5) member board of trustees. These members shall be elected for a period of three (3) years. The President will be an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees."
The board members are expected govern themselves by electing a chairperson who will initiate and conduct all official business. As the executive committee proceeds with fulfilling its duties for the term, it will seek advice from the board on these matters. As a rule the trustees will not participate in the activities of the executive committee. Instead, the function of the board of trustees will be to serve as the permanent advisors of the executive committee always keeping an eye on the long term well-being of Bichitra, Inc. and find ways to maintain continuity of the organization. The board should meet at least once a year.
Find volunteers or volunteer to serve as the election committee Define/update roles and responsibilities of officers of Bichitra Inc. (including the board members Provide ideas for improvement of member participation Propose amendments of bylaws/constitution that reflects the current state of organizational functionality and activitities Do all that is necessary to maintain continuity of Bichitra and smooth transition of the office bearers. Establish a procedures for safekeeping of minimum organizational document. Identify and recommend target political and charitable contributions.
